Curtain falls on the night, the most famous Alpine resorts. In the darkness stands the steeple of St. Philip and St. James Parish, built between 1850 and 1858, 76 meters high.
The most mundane, the most beautiful, the most aristocratic. Cortina has been captured in time being called the "Pearl of the Dolomites", becoming the center of social life. A favorite of intellectuals and artists, but also of principles, scions and the jet-setters.
Seeing is believing, perhaps even encouraged by the suggestion of an American like Hemingway, who just Cortina environmental epilogue of his famous “Farewell to the arms”, with that last glass of whiskey drunk at the Hotel de la Poste before discovering the drama that awaited him in the hospital.
Cortina is 1224 meters above sea level, in the province of Belluno, surrounded by some of the most beautiful peaks of the Dolomites: The Croda del Lago, Nuvolau, the group of mountain Tofane Pomagagnon, Crystal, Sorapis.
The most famous of the street is Corso Italia, home of the majority of stores (in Cortina, there are about 250), with a wide selection of luxury and gastronomic delicacies. Living in this mountain, the evening is full of events, from the aperitif until late night there is a big choice. But the places of cult are the Enoteca for a glass of wine and the terrace of the famous Hotel de la Poste, where to drink a great martini.
And for skiers there are 24 chair lifts, 5 lifts, 8 ski lifts ... 110 km of slopes. And for lovers of cross-country skiing 58 km of trails at Tre Croci and Fiames.. The most popular tracks are those of the Faloria and Cristallo. Also the Tofane are in vogue, with the slopes of Col Drusciè, Ra Valles, and the intensive Forcella Rossa..
Also beaten the track of the Cinque Torri, from which you can reach the Falzarego.
