Venezia

filled by Giulia

One of the most romantic Italian cities, formed by the blend of Eastern and Western culture.
Seductive and mysterious, the city is made up of 177 islands, 150 canals and 400 bridges.
Piazza San Marco is the most beautiful open lounge in Italy. Admire the Palazzo Ducale (Doge's Palace), symbol of glory and power of Venice, the residence of the Doges, the Government and the Court of Justice, joined the Palazzo delle Prigioni through the Ponte dei Sospiri, the terrible prison.
And more, the Basilica, the Campanile, the Clock Tower.
We recommend that you get lost among the streets and squares without maps and guides, until you arrive to the Rialto Bridge, the first group which originated in Venice, now a center for shops and craft shops.
Have a tour in a gondola among the canals of the city.
Events to remember: the Art Biennale (June to September) and the Film Festival (August-September), which brings the city for days on the pages of every newspaper.
If you want to see a film that will give you an idea of the city: Everyone Says I Love You, of WoodyAllen, with a beautiful Julia Roberts who is jogging through the narrow streets.
The islands of the Lagoon:
A trip to the lagoon is recommended with a scenic boat.
Past the coasts of Pallestrina, the Lido and the many islands that characterize the lagoon giving it a charming and romantic view. First stop in Murano, famous for its glassware. Here you can visit an authentic glassshop still in business, where glassmakers make you admire the different processing techniques of glass blowing and you can see live the creation of these famous objects now known and appreciated around the world. Then a visit Burano, famous for lace-making, you'll love the special atmosphere here: the houses painted in bright colors and the blue of the sky have made this island an ideal refuge for many poets and artists of the Romantic era. Even today this island is known as one of the most colorful of the lagoon.
