It 's wonderful to walk in the old streets in the center of Brno, and it is curious to see go into the streets even the tram that goes up into the hills ...

SPIELBERG CASTLE
It stands on a low hill at the foot of which the town developed . It survived intact since the 13th century . During the rule of the Habsburg Empire was transformed into a prison.

At the foot of Spielberg , in the opposite direction to the current old city develops the most ancient center of the city where the church of the Assumption of the Virgin , perhaps the most beautiful of Brno was rebuilt during the 1700s and the interior preserves a painting on wood of a black Madonna dating from the twelfth century. The Monaco Augustinian Mendel conducted experiments in botany right here with peas , at the garden of the adjoining monastery , which led to his theory of genetics.
